LOROS (the Leicestershire and Rutland Organisation for the Relief of Suffering) is a local charity providing care and support within Leicestershire and Rutland. It relies upon the voluntary support of local people and organisations. The Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice is a specialist centre providing skilled nursing and medical care in an environment that recognises the particular needs of patients and their families.
The generous support that LOROS receives from the local community makes such a difference to the patients, as it enables the hospice to continue to provide specialist care for the local people of Leicestershire and Rutland. LOROS cares for both the patients and for their families in many ways and seeks to ensure that the specific needs of the individual patients are met.
The NHS supports the work of the hospice with a grant, which covers about 40% of the running costs. The charity relies upon the support of local people, companies and organisations in order to raise £4 million of voluntary income each year.
LOROS has been open for 21 years; let's see it providing care for many years to come!
